Time for a Change

Everyone needs to try something different once in a while. That’s why, after much hemming  and hawing, I’ve decided to update the WordPress theme (as in, template) on my blog. I’ve already tried this one before, as some of you readers who have been around longer may remember. It lasted less than a day. But now it’s back, and I’m loving it more than ever.

For those of you not familiar with the WordPress world, whenever you start up a blog, you get to choose a “theme,” or pre-made template, on which to build your blog. Individuals upload photos of their choice, can manipulate the colours on the blog, and organize the menus and lists on the sidebars, but the general “look” comes in a package from WordPress. That’s where the difficulty comes in: I’ve spent far too much time previewing my blog using other templates, just to get a feel for what it looks like, but mostly it turns into a massive time-waster. Each theme looks so temptingly beautiful, so unique, so different than what I’m used to seeing on a daily basis, that it’s nearly impossible to choose. That’s why I didn’t — until today, when I decided that enough is enough. I’ll take the leap and change it up in honour of Fall and nearly nine months of blogging.

There’s something grown up and serious about this blog theme, and I think that Feisty Red Hair has grown and developed to the point where it’s ready for a more mature theme. Not that my approach to writing won’t still be fun and lighthearted and a bit all over the place, but I’m craving a less distracting backdrop. So here I am, presenting the new and improved Feisty Red Hair! (What do you think?!)
